The EFLS works on local solidarity through practical pilot projects

First of all, the EFLS is the overseer of a European project

As such, the EFLS organises every year on the last Tuesday of May, European Neighbour's day because neighbours are like social parachutes or shock absorbers that further institutional and family solidarity.

It is a leading event and because it is simple and merry it easily came to be part of the everyday life of everyone.

European citizens are the true actors of this event.

The EFLS seeks to develop this project i.e. mediatise it, spread it all over Europe and study its positive results by mustering all the stories people have to give about the event.

This is why the EFLS is networking in each Member State and Region, issues communication tools in order to mediatise the information about the European Neighbour's day which is no longer a specific event but has become a core element of the education to the idea of European citizenship.

The EFLS also supports actions and projects

Furthermore, number of actions and projects on the short and long run are launched by other entities every day at various levels by different actors yet in the same spirit as that of the EFLS and the same vision of strengthening social bonds. Hence, the EFLS supports those actions and projects by different means: expertise sharing, technical help, partnerships, etc.

The EFLS is also a social lab

On the basis of thinking and various surveys new social experiments are constantly dreamt of, conceived, launched, run and managed. These experiments are a way to fulfil the objectives of the EFLS and insure its values are supported. They also match the evolutions of the European society and its needs in terms of social cohesion.

These labs of local solidarity give the possibility to later value the development opportunities of such experiments on a larger scale so that eventually, they may become sustainable in the everyday life of European citizens.

Last but not least, The EFLS is an observatory of local solidarity

With the information provided by its members, partners and all the participants to its projects or other close projects, the EFLS can gather a database and give an analysis of the evolution local solidarity in the different Member States and regions of the European Union.

The EFLS is a platform which enables the constant support of partner organisations without entering into the management of the organisations who remain independent between themselves and vis-à-vis the FESP.
